Part-time Instructional Aide
Overview
This position is a 19 hours per week position.
Instructional Aides are directly supervised by and are evaluated by the Principal who includes in this supervision and evaluation evaluative data supplied by assigned teachers.
Instructional Aides have no adult supervisory responsibility nor are they required to evaluate any other personnel.
General Description
In accordance with the law and district policy, the Instructional Aide is responsible for working under the direction of teachers and assisting teachers with specific tasks such as student supervision in and out of the classroom, small group instruction
Educational and Experience Requirements
Associates Degree or 60 verifiable credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning. Credits must be related to the responsibilities of this position. Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish are required. Applicants must achieve a satisfactory score on a district-administered test.
Major Responsibilities
Instructional Aides interact primarily with students, teachers, principals, parents, clerks and secretaries. Examples of work include:
•Assists teacher in management of student arrival and departure activities.
•Supervises students during recess, in the cafeteria, on the playground, and in the classroom as assigned by the teacher.
•Works with small groups of students in academic areas as assigned by the teacher.
•Performs clerical work, typing, and running off copies of materials.
•As necessary, makes reports on student misbehavior and works in cooperation with the teacher to resolve problems.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands of the position
This position requires a person that can lift 40 pounds
Salary Schedule
$9.29-10.36 DOE
