Speech and Language Pathologists

General Description
Upon referral, assesses students in group settings and as individuals to determine speech therapy needs. Following assessment, develops therapy plans that include goals and objectives. Keeps records and documentation of individual therapy sessions. Follows report writing procedures for evaluations and progress reports for long and short-term clients. Works with other school personnel and Speech and Language Pathologists in developing preventative programs. Works with community agencies that provide services to students. Provides in service training to staff and conducts parent education workshops. Functions as a member of multidisciplinary evaluation teams as appropriate.

Educational and Experience Requirements
A Speech and Language Pathologist certificate is required. The requirements for certification through the Arizona Department of Education are as follows: 1) A Master's or more advanced degree, from an accredited institution, in speech pathology or communication disorders; 2) A minimum of 250 clinical clock hours supervised by a university or speech-language pathologist with certificate of clinical competence; 3) A certificate of clinical competence, or passing score on the national exam, or passing score on the speech and language impaired special education portion of the Arizona Teacher Proficiency Assessment; and 4) A valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Salary Schedule
Salary Range: $47,913 - 60,713
